Suntikoppa estate

400 acres of Netly estate in SuntiKoppa, Coorg, Karnataka was owned by a Britisher Ms. White. My grandfather Rama. Ramanathun purchased 200 acres of this property in 1972. Was bought through Bank of Madura loan. It was bought for 12 lakhs as a complete loan. back then it was jokingly said in Madura bank that Netly B was their estate. The loan was reimbursed through earnings of the estate.

My appatha’s mother constantly nagged my appatha to ask my ayya to partner with her father in order to develop assets as they only has vatti kadai. Based on wife’s insistence her father Natarajan chettair was made a partner with the pact that the working capital will be provided by him for 2 years.

Thirunyanam chettiar brother of my appatha had a B.Sc. degree in chemistry/ Agriculture was stationed in Netlye B due to the internal feuds. He speaks Tamil, English, Tulu, Malayam, Kannada. He came here with family and settled. He later learned the craft of handling estate

Beechland

Around 2000 acres of coconut groves were held near the Srilankan shore. Vatti kadai. Neercolombo. 1956 left Srilanka

150 acres was bought at a price of 1.5 lakhs. 1957 beechland ( Ayya was 20 years old) – from Chettiar. Bought in 1955 uable to manage and decided to seel within 2 years. This was bought as a joint family property to be split between the two brothers.

1-2 estates were bought after Beechland but were soon sold off due to internal feuds. One property was bought along with VKN

Rama. Ramanathun ooda mother Visalakshi achi porantha veedu VKN veedu. Visalakshi achi father Vellaiyappa Chettiar ( kollu paati appachi) brankrupt aitanga – manjal kaduthasi. So visalakshi achi to the recuse but paying of the debts. She also gave money for business. After which they grew humungous with multiple properties in Malaysia.

The father developed a belief that any good thing has to involve Visalakshi achi family. Visalakshi was an early widow ( husband Ramasamy chettiar died in 1938). Being an widow she was unable to manage affairs abroad. She asked help from her father to help manage these. The father magnanimously offered to support. In reality he usurped the vatti kadai in singapore and in return gave very little compensation to Visalakshi achi. She who believed in him was disappointed.
